Chartwells wins £23.5m Bournemouth University contract
Foodservice company Chartwells, part of Compass UK & Ireland, has signed a new 10-year, £23.5m contract with Bournemouth University.
The new deal is set to begin in September, and will see the company provide catering and hospitality services to the university's 18,000 students and 1,700 staff, across two campuses. Chartwells has worked with Bournemouth University since 1995.
The new contract includes plans to enhance the dining and café areas at the campuses alongside new street-food style outdoor outlets, set to open in 2016.
Robin Mills, managing director of Chartwells, said the company's dedication to new ideas had helped it retain the contact. He said: "Our team have built a unique relationship with our clients there since 1995 based on trust, shared objectives and mutual respect. We have kept the student and staff experience at the heart of all our propositions."
Stuart Laird, director of estates at Bournemouth University, explained that the deal was part of the university's plans to develop, invest and expand. He said: "The university was very clear on our final decision and recognised the benefits that would come from extending our partnership with Chartwells. We needed to be confident that catering services will continue to evolve and that our catering partner will adapt and respond accordingly."
Specialising in educational contracts, Chartwells provides catering and services at over 2,000 sites nationwide, including primary and secondary schools, academies, independent schools, colleges, and universities.
Compass itself operates a host of brands over 10,000 sites across the UK and Ireland, including at sports venues, workplaces, schools, hospitals, and remote locations such as oil rigs.
