Centerplate snaps up £14m Northampton Town FC deal
Caterer Centerplate has snapped up a £14m contract at Northampton Town FC's Sixfields Stadium.
The 10-year deal, which begins in July, will see Centerplate take charge of all match day and non-match day catering as well as events sales and marketing duties at the league two football club.
The appointment comes as the Cobblers embarks on a major multimillion-pound expansion and re-development of the facilities at Sixfields, which will be carried out in two phases.
Centerplate is contributing towards the capital investment cost of the upgrade, which includes a new conference centre with a 500-plus capacity suite and other meeting rooms, executive boxes and a new bar within the East Stand complex, as well as a family area in the West Stand - all of which are due for completion in time for the 2014-15 season.
A hotel is also being built on site in a bid to attract non-matchday visitors to the stadium, which will see capacity increased from 7,653 to 10,000.
David Cardoza, chairman of Northampton Town, said: "The Centerplate team has established a good ‘hands-on' working partnership with us, and we have naturally involved them in discussions about the opportunities to generate incremental revenue for the club from maximising the potential of the new facilities."
