Caterer Amadeus appoints new operations director

Midlands-based foodservice firm Amadeus, part of the NEC Group, has named Tony Baldock as its new operations director.

He has joined the business with more than 35 years' experience in the catering industry, much of it spent at Compass Group, where he was involved in the bidding, mobilisation and project management of a number of high profile contracts with clients such as Sainsbury's, Asda and B&Q.

Baldock (pictured) was also executive vice president of leisure and retail sales for Compass Group Canada, where he was responsible for the company's stadia, hospitality, fine dining and event catering. Most recently he was managing director of Roots Food Service, a company he co-founded.

Commenting the appointment, Amadeus managing director Kevin Watson said: "Since 2011, Amadeus has won a substantial amount of new business which has resulted in our operating profit increasing by an impressive 48%.

"We have been looking for a candidate that will be able to support this level of growth to maximise profits and with Tony's wealth of experience, we are confident that we have found the right person. He has a proven track record in building and developing new business to deliver success and will prove invaluable to Amadeus and our clients."

In his new role, Baldock is tasked with increasing average transactional value, continuing to deliver the Amadeus Service that Sells programme and controlling labour costs.

He said: "Amadeus is a fantastic brand that is renowned for its high quality food, innovation and great customer service. I look forward to working with the team to help achieve its ambitious growth plans by finding new and innovative ways to maximise operating profit across the business."
