Call for National Training Awards entries begins

Entry to this year's National Training Awards (NTA) is now open.

Hospitality companies that have achieved business success through training can enter the prestigious pan-industry competition up to the 28 April 2006.

Industry successes last year included chicken chain Nando's, which picked up two NTA, and Red Carnation Hotels and McDonald's Restaurants.

Organisers UK Skills will provide support to all entrants including telephone mentoring and half-day workshops from now to the closing date.

UK Skills chief executive Graeme Hall said the process of entry could also serve as a useful benchmarking tool for companies.

"Every year winners tell us how much they have gained from the process of entering the awards. Completing their application allows them to evaluate what lasting impact their training has had," he said.

Judging takes place in May and June with finalists notified in August. A gala ceremony celebrating 2006's winners will be held in November.
