Bidfood launch Create Summer range

Food wholesalers Bidfood have launched their 2018 Create Summer range inspired by the latest consumer dining trends.

Details of the #CreateSummer range were announced last week at a presentation introduced by thefoodpeople where business development manager, Morgan Griffiths gave some context to the food trends by detailing the 2018 Macro Cultural Trends including Egocentrism; Who to Trust; Infinite Possibility and Selflessness.

Alongside, the trends, Bidfood was inspired by four highly hyped cuisine sectors for 2018 which align to seasonal dining habits such as demand for lighter meals and fresh flavours.

Moreish MENA - - based on the most popular ethnic cuisine to hit the market in 2017 being Middle Eastern food. More than a third of consumers would like to see more Middle Eastern and North African influences on restaurant menus, and almost a quarter of consumers seek out different regional Middle Eastern and North African cuisine experiences.

Americas Discovered - - the influence of Latin American food on the UK continues to expand, reinforcing a growing taste for South American and Caribbean cuisine. There's an array of Latin food styles and flavours for all foodservice operators to consider, creating plenty of opportunity to incorporate various cooking styles and a range of ingredients from grilled, fried, and stewed meats and fish, to vegetables and chilli-infused salsas.

Asian Appetites - - Ethnic Asian foods and flavours are becoming more and more authentic and traditional, linking back to their regions of origin.

Better Me - - the focus on healthy eating grows stronger with consumers expecting transparency and traceability from food manufacturing companies. Research conducted by the Vegan Society and Vegan Life Magazine has shown that the number of vegans in the UK has risen by nearly 360% in the past decade.

Laura Mason, campaign manager at Bidfood, commented: "We've loved designing, developing and choosing the exciting new Create Summer range and it's been fantastic to share the final collection with everyone.

"Central to the range is our in-depth industry knowledge which ensures caterers can stay ahead of the curve with on-trend and bespoke menu suggestions that directly cater to their diners. This year, consumer desire for new flavour combinations and experience-led dining will continue to dominate. Equally, government mandates around sugar and the ever-growing demand to meet dietary requirements with interesting menu options will be top of the agenda. Bidfood's Create Summer range ties all this together to provide caterers with a wide variety of options to meet these needs and more!"

Working alongside Public Health England (PHE), Bidfood's summer range includes products which address operator needs to meet the latest sugar targets and a nutritional screening tool for new product development, used to review the nutritional content of products within its own brand range to support its healthy eating agenda.

The Bidfood Create Summer range is available to order from 1 March.
