Firefighters tackle blaze at Midhurst hotel

More than 30 people have been evacuated from a hotel in Midhurst, West Sussex, with firefighters continuing to tackle the blaze that broke out in the early hours of this morning.

At 1.08am today, West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service was called to reports of a fire at the Angel Inn in North Street, which is believed to have broken out in the roof space of the hotel and has since spread to neighbouring properties.

Firefighters are working to bring the fire under control, with 15 fire engines in attendance, and are expected to be at the scene for "a considerable amount of time".

Area manager Richard Abbot said it was "too early in the incident to know the cause of the fire but we will be investigating the fire as soon as it is safe to do so".
