Enter now: Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2023

Entries are now open for the Best Places to Work in Hospitality 2023, the awards that celebrate the top employers in the hospitality sector.

Run in partnership with Purple Cubed and sponsored by Umbrella Training, the Best Places to Work in Hospitality awards identify and showcase the top 30 operators who lead the way in people engagement and workplace culture.

The annual celebration of employment best practice launched nine years ago by The Caterer and people retention specialist Purple Cubed celebrates companies large and small, established and entrepreneurial, holding them up as exemplars in employee engagement.

In 2023, the Best Places to Work in Hospitality top 30 will highlight those organisations that are delivering on what really matters, as well as checking engagement levels and identifying the key areas for retaining employees.

The top 30 list is not influenced by leaders, operators or marketing. The companies are recommended by their own employees, who answer five ‘killer' questions, as well as identifying what's important to them at work and how well their employer is delivering on that goal.

The survey outcomes will provide essential information to inform strategy in the continuing ‘war for talent', helping you to employ and retain the people required to deliver your services and to support a positive future.

Those who make the top 30 also gain a free place at The Caterer's 2023 People Summit in May 2023, and the six highest achievers will be shortlisted for the Best Employer Catey 2023.

Last year the top six Best Places to Work in Hospitality were Aviator, Dakota Manchester, Genuine Dining, the Old Stocks Inn, Thomas Franks and Valor Hospitality, and the Catey for Best Employer 2022 was awarded to Thomas Franks.

The founder-led contract catering company, with more than 160 locations in business and industry, independent schools and the care sector, stood out as a family-focused employer.

More than three-quarters of respondents to the Best Places to Work in Hospitality survey gave a score of 10 for the question "I am proud to work here". One Thomas Franks employee told Purple Cubed: "Our large HR team provides access to support, personal development, counselling and employee assistance programme services. It's a company driven by its values and commitment to people, which I respect."

The Caterer's managing editor Lisa Jenkins said: "Last year was phenomenal for Thomas Franks with a string of accolades starting with the business being shortlisted in the top six of The Caterer's Best Places to Work in Hospitality, going on to win the Best Employer Catey and owner Frank Bothwell also claiming the 2022 Foodservice Caterer Catey.
