Donnington Valley hotel to develop £3m wedding barn

The four-silver-AA-star, 113-bedroom Donnington Valley hotel near Newbury, Berkshire, is to open a £3m wedding barn in the grounds of the property's adjacent golf course.

Construction of the building, which will sit opposite the Grade II, Victoria clubhouse Snelsmore House, is under way with an opening date expected of summer 2020. Boasting floor to ceiling glass windows and a feature fireplace, the barn will serve as a venue for up to 150 guests while a terrace will incorporate a pizza oven and barbecue.

Andrew McKenzie, managing director of the Vineyard Group, which incorporates for Donnington Valley hotel and nearby sister hotel, the five-red-AA-star, 49-bedroom, Vineyard, said: "This is the largest project that we've undertaken in several years, so we are all very excited.

"It has become apparent to us recently that couples are looking for somewhere experiential to celebrate their big day and the barn will deliver that in spades. We will open in June 2020 and I am delighted that we have just secured our first wedding booking for shortly after opening."

In addition to hosting weddings, the barn will also be available for private celebrations, launch events and conferences.
