Book of hospitality stories published in aid of Hospitality Action

Chef and Hospitality Action ambassador Steve West has compiled Chefs and Summer Balls, With a Slice of Turkey, a collection of stories written by hospitality staff, with all proceeds donated to the charity.

The book is a collection of more than 40 stories written by hospitality staff during lockdown, on topics including dealing with mental health crises and their experiences of working in the industry,

With a foreword from chef Michel Roux Jr, all proceeds from the book will be donated to Hospitality Action.

West said: "This is a book dedicated to every chef, waiter, housekeeper and manager, every concierge, receptionist, and kitchen porter, sommelier, bartender, catering assistant and cook across the country."

The chef consultant told Hospitality Action: "The idea for Chefs and Summer Balls was very simple. There were so many great initiatives throughout lockdown ranging from Walk for Calm, companies sharing profits and routes around Britain encouraging funds to be raised by lovely unselfish people.

"The intentions were fantastic, but the money generated is finite and funds are so desperately needed all the time. There had to be a longer-term view on raising funds – something that would always be there and in the future, perhaps other books could be written."
