Owners of Bath's Abbey hotel plan expansion

The owner of the Abbey hotel in Bath has applied to convert basement meeting rooms and back of house office space into four new bedrooms.

KE Hotels has applied to Bath and North East Somerset Council for planning permission, which would also see four bedrooms become connected family rooms. The property currently has 62 bedrooms.

The group plans to refurbish the hotel's remaining 38 existing bedrooms, having already refurbished 24 rooms, the hotel reception, bar and lounge in May.

KE Hotels acquired the property from Ian and Christa Taylor in February 2018. KE Hotels also owns the 87-bedroom Best Western Linton Lodge in Oxford and 147-bedroom Manchester Moxy by Marriott hotel, as well as a number of hotels in the US.
