April Fool's Day roundup: A cocktail bar for dogs and chocolate beer glasses

As ever the industry has decided to contribute its best puns and craziest ideas to April Fool's Day.

Spaghetti Sunday roast

Flying in the face of tradition

Pasta Evangelists today announced the launch of the "ultimate feasting dish", a Sunday roast spaghetti, which it claims "fuses the best of British and Italian in one".

The Sunday Roast Spaghetti, features freshly made spaghetti on a Yorkshire pudding base, topped with a whole roast poussin, roast potatoes, greens and baby carrots, all doused in a hearty dose of gravy.

Too much of good things maybe...

A paw-fect night out

Inception Group - behind the Mr Fogg's bars - has announced the launch of Mr Dogg's, a dog-friendly, experience-led cocktail bar in Mayfair.

Cocktails will include a Barkardi Mojito, Pawstar Martini and Woofsky Sour alongside a selection of bar sticks.

Inception Group - make this come true and we guarantee a Caterer cover spot!

Fullers Chocolate Pint

Raising a (chocolate) glass

Pub operator Fuller Smith & Turner, has (apparently) launched a new chocolate beer glass so customers can enjoy the "great, complementary flavours" of chocolate and beer together.

Head of beer and chocolate (absolutely a real job title) at Fuller's, Paris Looflady, said: "The new glass brings a whole new meaning to quick pint and a bite. At Fuller's, you can now do both things together, but don't take too long as these glasses won't be around forever – especially in hot weather."

This just sounds so, so messy

Cream first

The drinks inspired April Fool's continue with St Austell Brewery teaming up with Rodda's Cornish clotted cream to announce the launch of the limited edition Cream First beer.

Cream First is a clotted cream and strawberry pale ale, brewed with local malt, 100 tubs of glorious Rodda's clotted cream, alongside over a ton of Cornish strawberries.

Your move, Devon.

Frankie & Benny's

No more ketchup?

Frankie & Benny's has said that it will no longer serve condiments in any of its restaurants. In a bold social media post it said: "Our fries, burgers and hot dogs have been hiding behind ketchup bottles for too long – we think they deserve a chance to shine."

We'll see.....

Pickle beer

We're in a pickle with this one...

Byron has insisted that the following announcement is not an April Fool's, despite being embargoed until one minute past midnight on 1 April.... Anyway, we'll leave it to you to decide.

The burger chain has announced the launch of the UK's first pickle beer. The beverage has a Saison beer base combined with natural dry tart acidity and a subtle herbal fresh dill infusion - to match perfectly with any burger.

It sounds great to be fair, here's hoping it's real.
