Tender opportunity: British Museum
British Museum Ventures Limited (BMV), a wholly owned commercial trading subsidiary indirectly controlled by the Trustees of The British Museum, would like to invite tenders for the provision of public and private catering services at the Museum's Bloomsbury site.
The British Museum is the world's oldest national public museum and as a recipient of just under six million visitors in 2017 was in that year the United Kingdom's most visited tourist attraction. The British Museum is home to over eight million objects of international cultural and archaeological importance, including the United Kingdom's national collection of prints and drawings.
BMV is interested in tenders that will both excite visitors, enhancing their enjoyment of the Museum's vast collection, and provide crucial commercial income to support the broader work of the Museum.
The contract will likely be for a five year period from May 2019.
The caterer will operate on a concession basis and have overall responsibility for staffing, the food and beverage offer and the daily management of the catering spaces, including all relevant legal compliance.
The successful bidder will also have responsibility for the supply of catering services within the private Members' Room of the British Museum Friends, which is a separate registered charity that is also wholly owned by the Trustees of the British Museum. This matter will be subject to a separate agreement.
To express an interest and for further details, please use the e-mail contact information below before Friday 24 August 2018. A receipt confirmation will be sent within five working days.
