Dulwich Picture Gallery is a vibrant cultural hub hosting some of the UK's leading exhibitions alongside its collection of Old Master paintings, while staging a wide-ranging programme of public events and community engagement. Our mission is to maximise Dulwich Picture Gallery's unique potential – its building, art, grounds, people and location.
We are inviting expressions of interest from ambitious and creative companies who can provide a high-quality food and drink offer that will propel the Gallery Café into being a destination in its own right.
We do not believe in standard, heritage-site catering. We believe in the opportunity to build a business loved by the local community in one of the most desirable spots in South London. If advantageous, we are open to a brand-partnership which builds on your company's existing reputation for excellent quality and customer service.
The large glass-fronted Café space benefits from a prime location within the vibrant Dulwich Village, next to Dulwich Park, and is close to local transport links. Our fully licenced indoor and outdoor seating areas can provide over 100 covers, whilst a take-away offer can be enjoyed across our beautiful three-acre gardens.
We welcome up to 250,000 visitors to the Gallery and grounds annually. Café customers include ticketed Gallery visitors, as well as residents, families, and evening visitors as part of our public programme of events.
The appointed company will need to demonstrate sound business and management skills alongside a creative and entrepreneurial vision, whilst showing a commitment to quality, customer service and sustainability.
The three-year contract (subject to extension), which will be awarded following a full tender, will commence in September 2021.
