Local operators buy food-led inn near Bath

Local operators Ken and Jenny Roberts have bought the leasehold and the freehold on the food-led Inn at Freshford near Bath.

It's a traditional coaching inn dating back to the 15th century that sits on the banks of the River Frome in the Somerset village of Freshford.

The three-storey property incorporates a main bar, a 40-seat restaurant, a 40-seat function room, a trade garden and a detached outbuilding.

There is also two-bedroom accommodation for both the owners and the manager.

Food accounts for 65% of turnover at the inn, which offers bar and a la carte menus.

Earlier this year, they bought the nearby Box Steam Brewery, where the two bar managers brew their own real ales.

The new owners bought the leasehold off an asking price of £165,000 through the Bristol office of Christie + Co from Latona Leisure Group, which owns and operates eight inns and hotels in the South West.

In a separate, private deal, they acquired the freehold from Scottish and Newcastle.
