Head chef takes on Devon pub

The leasehold on the Rising Sun in the Devon village of Ashburton has been bought by Paul Cheakley, who lives a stone's throw from the pub where he has served as head chef for the past five years.

Cheakley has a long association with the Rising Sun, which he joined seven years ago. He carried out his work experience as a student there and both his mother and his sister have served as waitresses in the pub.

It provides an open-plan bar with seating for around 100, a bar servery, extensive trade gardens, five letting bedrooms, and a two-bedroom private flat.

Bettesworths sold the leasehold on the inn off an asking price of £119,950.
