Chef buys Cornwall's Rising Sun

Chef Andrew Mason has bought the Rising Sun inn at Altarnum in Cornwall off an asking price of £485,000.

The inn, which partly dates back to the 18th century, enjoys year-round trade and is home to regular pool and darts teams.

Mason, who has clocked up more than 20 years' experience as a chef in the UK, Canada and France, has refurbished the 30-seat family dining area and plans to add en-suite bathrooms to the four letting bedrooms.

The Plymouth office of Colliers Robert Barry handled the sale on behalf of the Mansons, who have operated the inn for the past nine years.
