Admiral Taverns sells Newport's Old Rising Sun

Admiral Taverns has sold the Old Rising Sun near Newport town centre in Gwent to Parvin Ali and her father.

The detached, three-storey stone property is one of 57 public houses that Christie + Co is marketing on behalf of Admiral Taverns.

It sits on the town's main road, Shaftesbury Street, and has recently been renovated.

The Old Rising Sun has an open-plan bar for up to 80 people, a 30-seat café and a three-bedroom owners' accommodation, with more space available across two upper floors.

Ali, who has gained restaurant experience in the South Wales area, plans to develop the pub into a food-led operation.

The Bristol office of Christie + Co sold the pub's 999-year lease for close to the asking price of £300,000 plus VAT.
