Puttshack appoints new CEO as it eyes rapid expansion

Indoor mini golf brand Puttshack has appointed Joe Vrankin as chief executive, as it eyes rapid expansion after securing £27m investment.

After securing the backing of Promethean Investment LLP, Puttshack will open two new UK sites in the second half of 2019, then one every 12 weeks from 2020. The company's first US site is expected to open in the second quarter of 2020, with one site planned to be added every three weeks.

Vrankin said: ‘'As competitive socialising continues to grow across the globe, I'm thrilled to be joining what I believe is one of the best businesses in the space. We're committed to connecting technology with the traditional game of mini golf and creating unprecedented experiences for our guests.

"With the completion of this £27m raise, we are fully capitalised to execute on our global growth strategy at a significant pace."

Vrankin was previously chief executive of Topgolf and chief operating officer of Arena Football League.

The company will open venues in Intu Lakeside, Kent, and the City of London this year.
