Liverpool Travelodge opens four months after digger driven into foyer
Liverpool Edge Lane Travelodge has opened four months after being seriously damaged when a digger was driven through the entrance.
The 79-bedroom hotel was due to open in February, however made national headlines when a digger was driven into the hotel lobby.
John Manley was later charged in relation to the incident and in March pleaded not guilty to dangerous driving and destroy/damage property as to endanger life at Liverpool Crown Court. The trial is due to begin in September.
The hotel has opened with a 16ft x 10ft wall showcasing what makes ‘Liverpool so great', as voted for by the public, featuring the Beatles, singer and presenter Cilla Black, footballer Steven Gerrard and the Royal Liver Building.
