Refurbishment programme serves up sales boost for Bill's

Casual-dining group Bill's has credited a refurbishment programme with serving up a sales boost.

The group unveils 11 upgraded restaurants today, taking the total number of converted sites to 24.

The group has said that converted sites are significantly outperforming the rest of the estate, with March seeing a 12.2% increase in like-for-like sales across the business.

David Campbell, executive chairman of Bill's, said: "The last six months have seen strong growth for Bill's as we have renewed our focus on healthy and indulgent seasonal food. The interior of the restaurants is also integral to our customer's experience, and so, with the current new look sites outperforming the rest of the estate, we are obviously keen to expand the programme. We are also looking at some exciting new locations for Bill's.

"Bill [Collison, founder] and I continue to be impressed with how our teams in the restaurants deliver a brilliant customer experience, and the results of this are clearly driving record growth across all sites. We are very proud of everyone in the company for the hard work they have put in, especially over the last six months, and the great results they continue to achieve."

In May 2018 Bill's reported an £8m boost in turnover to £118.6m in the year to 30 July 2017, but said cost increases had knocked pre-tax profits to £4.8m.
