Welsh see no change

Bedroom occupancy in Welsh hotels in May 1996 was a mirror of the performance in the same month in 1995.

The chart shows how bedroom occupancy has remained relatively stable over the past five years during May, except for 1993, when it sank to 54%.

Pannell Kerr Forster, which compiles the figures along with the Wales Tourist Board (WTB), said 1996 continued to be a positive year for Welsh hoteliers. But it warned that the small decline in overseas visitors during May is a slight cause for concern, as these tourists typically spend more than their domestic counterparts.
