We hate…

We hate…

OK, so maybe we don't hate it exactly, but 14 February certainly isn't our favourite day of the year. Too many fluffy hearts, tasteless cards, tables for two and smug couples around for our liking. Flowers, good food and chocolates we like, but the idea of scheduled romance seems rather more convenient for the greetings card and tacky gift industry than for us.

So for all the people out there who won't be holding hands with a special someone next Monday, pop along to some of these places, have a couple of drinks and before you know it, it'll all be over for another year.

H Iniquity, London

Go along to the "Show Me Love" night for singles only. Tickets (£5) are limited to ensure there will be boys and girls in equal numbers. There will be a complimentary glass of bubbly and canap‚s, special drinks promotions to ease the process of getting to know each other, and if you're really up for it, various games to join in along to a cheesetastic soundtrack. Address: 8-10 Northcote Road, Clapham, London SW11 1NT. Tel: 020 7924 6699.

H Spy Bar, Glasgow

If you really just want to ignore the whole thing, then go and feel stylish at one of Glasgow's sleekest bars. It has a reputation of attracting the city's most glamorous people, so you should fit right in. Address: 153 Bath Street, Glasgow G2. Tel: 0141-221 7711.

H Stay at home

Who wants to go out on a Monday night anyway? Save your energy for later in the week.
