PS – the Pub Company opens American smokehouse for fifth site

PS - the Pub Company has taken its estate to a total of five sites, after agreeing a deal to a new site in Bracknell.

The company has converted the Red Lion in the town's High Street into a Blue's Smokehouse - an American-themed brand that it hopes can be rolled out to other sites.

PS spent £250,000 on refurbishing the pub, including cladding part of the exterior in distressed wood to create a "traditional smoke shack".

The site, which has recently reopened, features a 700 sq ft bar, and a 140-seat restaurant, as well as an Italian/American ice-cream bar selling milk shakes and smoothies.

PS was attracted to the site - the second it has taken with Star Pubs and Bars - by the £750m redevelopment of Bracknell town centre.

Carlos Maidana, director of PS said: "The cost of pub ownership is high. Leasing provides a low cost way of expanding our business and getting great sites in prime locations such as the Red Lion. Star Pubs & Bars' support of our new concept and flexibility in the way they work have made our development at Bracknell possible."
