PATRICK ELSMIE is leaving the Old Course hotel in St Andrews, Fife, where he is general manager, to take over as operations director of Gleneagles hotel, Auchterarder, Perthshire, from 1 November.

GEORGE GRAHAM is being promoted from general manager of Gleneagles hotel to development director with effect from 1 November.

ROBERT VAN EARDE has been appointed manager of the Almenara hotel at Sotogrande in Spain. He was manager of the Carnegie Club at Skibo Castle in Rossshire.

DUNCAN MOIR has joined the Rose and Crown hotel in Tonbridge, Kent, as general manager. He was general manager at the Stradey Park hotel in Llanelli, Dyfed.

ROGER POWELL has been appointed general manager of Chelsea Village hotels and restaurants. He was general manager of the Marriott hotel in London's Marble Arch.

RUPERT ABBOTT has taken over as general manager of contract caterer High Table at Merrill Lynch in London. He was general catering manager for Compass group at Daiwa SBCM Europe in London.

FRANK McDONALD has joined contract catering group Catering Partnership in Lutterworth, Leicestershire, as training manager. He was health and safety co-ordinator at Walker and Son in Leicester.

TROY REID is head chef at the newly opened Six Degrees restaurant in London. He was a chef at Drones in London.

CHRIS and DENISE HARTLEY are leaving as managers of Anse Chastanet Resort in St Lucia next month to take over as general manager and accommodation services manager respectively at the CocoLaPalm Seaside Resort in Jamaica.

SANDY MASSON has joined Golden Tulip Worldwide as joint area director of sales and marketing for Europe, Middle East and Africa. She was formerly London regional director of sales for Stakis Hotels.

WIM DOOGE has been appointed president of the board of directors at the Hague Hotel School. He was president of RAI, an automotive association in Amsterdam.

CANDICE DEW has been promoted to business development manager for Hyatt Hotels and Resorts' business travel team. Her former role of business development executive has been taken over by GRAHAM SMITH, previously business development co-ordinator of worldwide sales.

DAVID GOWLING has been appointed group sales manager for Hayley Conference Centres. He was national sales manager for computer company PTT.

EMMA BARTON has left Berkeley Scott recruitment, where she was a consultant, to launch hotel sales and marketing recruitment company Rubicon.

JANE RILEY is the new general manager of Cranage Hall conference centre in Cheshire. She was general manager of Ettington Chase conference centre in Stratford-upon-Avon.

CAMERON SMITH has left the Jumeirah Beach hotel in Dubai, where he was assistant director of food and beverage, to become food and beverage manager at the Sheraton Jeddah Hotel and Villas in Saudi Arabia.
