Latest guides eclipse stars across Europe
Germany, Italy and Spain all have fewer Michelin stars than they did last year in the new guides published last week.
Germany has the only new three-starred restaurant in the latest guides, which include those for Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy and Switzerland.
The restaurant at the Waldhotel Sonnora in Wittlich is Germany's fourth three-starred establishment.
Elsewhere in Germany, the Schloss Berg in Perl-Nennig and the Landhaus Ville in Pulheim have been upgraded from one to two stars.
Eighteen hotels and restaurants have been awarded a star, while 27 have lost them. Three two-starred properties have been downgraded.
Switzerland did best in the latest round of inspections and, although three one-starred properties were demoted, Walserhof in Klosters has been given its second star and 13 restaurants have been awarded their first.
In Italy, the two-starred Balzi Rossi in Ventimiglia lost one star, and 30 hotels and restaurants have each lost their single stars. But the Locanda Solarola in Castel Guelfo and the San Domenico in Imola have been awarded two stars while 22 restaurants have won their first star.
In Spain, eight former one-starred restaurants and the two-star Girasol in Moraira have been downgraded. A further eight have joined the country's one-star brigade. For the first time, tapas bars are included in the guide.
There have been no changes in Portugal, which has three one-starred restaurants and one, the Vila Joya on the Praia de Gale, with two stars.
