Grand Union opens 11th site

Bar group Grand Union has a new site in Farringdon, London - its eleventh in the capital.

The company started five years ago with the eponymous Grand Union in Camden and now has venues in some of the most popular drinking and dining areas across the South-east.

The new site is decorated in the same style as the rest of the group, with vintage furniture sourced from auction houses and flea markets in a bid to combine the atmosphere of a local pub combined with the style of a cocktail bar.

Adam Marshall, managing director of Grand Union, said: "Our success is down to offering customers something a little bit different - we've combined the best bits of a restaurant, a pub and a club to create real destination venues. People know that wherever they are in London and whatever the situation, they can come to one of our bars and enjoy a carefree night out with a buzzing atmosphere."

The new bar has seen Grand Union hire 17 new members of staff. Like the other venues, it has a late licence.

The Farringdon bar is one of two new Grand Unions opening in early 2011. The twelfth Grand Union is due to launch in the newly-revived area of Paddington Basin in April.

The other Grand Union bars can be found in Brixton, Camberwell Grove, Camden, Islington (pictured), Kennington, Kentish Town, Ravenscourt Park, Twickenham and Wandsworth and Stoke Hammond in Buckinghamshire.
