Good start to the season for Wolves

Brewer and pub operator Wolverhampton & Dudley has reported a good start to its new financial year.

In a statement to the company's annual general meeting today, chief executive Ralph Findlay said trading in the 15 weeks to 15 January had been "in line with expectations".

Like-for-like sales were up by 3% in its Pathfinder Pubs managed houses division and by 3.4% in the Union Pub Company tenanted division.

W&D expected to complete integration of the 460 pubs added through the recent acquisition of Burtonwood by the end of April.

Findlay added: "Trading in the acquired business over the festive period was good and in line with our expectation."
