F&B manager dies in skiing tragedy

The food and beverages manager at the Island Sailing Club at Cowes on the Isle of Wight has been killed in a skiing accident.

Julian Colebrook, known to everyone as Joe, died in hospital a few days after the accident on ski slopes in France. He had been taking a sabbatical while the kitchens were being rebuilt.

Colebrook, 39, had travelled the world before settling in Cowes. He started his job in charge of in-house catering at the sailing club three years ago.

This week club commodore Peter Hedley said: "He will be a great loss to his family and to the Island Sailing Club.

Sailing manager Bob Milner said: "Joe put the club on the map as far as the catering was concerned after it had gone through a difficult period and was brought in-house. He introduced improvements to the menus and catering.

"He never lost his cool and was popular with everyone, both work colleagues and members. Whenever you put a problem to him, he never said ‘it can't be done'."
