Costs force Royal Blind Society to sell specialist hotel
A charity has been forced to put a specialist hotel catering for blind and partially sighted people on the market.
The Royal Blind Society (RBSoc) has put the long leasehold interest in the Belmont hotel in Llandudno up for sale.
Eileen Harding, the charity's CEO, said of the announcement: "This was an extremely hard decision to make. Everyone at RBSoc understands that the hotel is a special place for many of our guests. The staff at the Belmont have been central to that.
"We have tried to keep the hotel open as a specialist hotel for as long as possible, but the sad fact is that we are unable to afford the ongoing costs as more and more blind people are seeking to experience mainstream forms of holidays and breaks. We hope that the future owners will work closely with the staff and community to do justice to a hotel that has made many happy memories for our guests."
The hotel, which is located on the promenade with views of the pier has 27 en-suite bedrooms, lounge and bar area with a 44-cover restaurant.
The asking price is £525,000 and it is being marketed by property agency Fleurets' Manchester office.
