Treby Arms closed and on the market

The Treby Arms in Sparkwell, Devon, has closed and the venue has been brought to market.

A message posted to the restaurant's social media accounts said: "We are currently speaking with a number of interested parties to take over this beautiful village pub…

"We feel strongly that it should be owner occupied and hope that locals will support the future Treby and enable it to keep its doors open and return to being a key feature within the community. Sparkwell is a darling place and we would like to thank all those that have supported us so far."

The Treby Arms lost its Michelin star in the 2018 guide following the departure of executive head chef Anton Piotrowski, who left after six years. Piotrowski, along with owners Desmond Whitehouse, Mark Downton and Graham Milford, opened the Treby Arms in 2011 as a foodie destination and it held the star from 2013 to 2017.

Luke Fearon took over as head chef in March 2017 but left 11 months later as the restaurant announced a shift to a more casual dining format, abolishing the tasting menu to reflect the "direction the market is clearly moving towards" and renaming as Elements at the Treby Arms.

The venue is being marketed by SBC in Truro.
