Chef Rishim Sachdeva has announced his (mostly) vegan pop-up Tendril will be re-launching as a permanent restaurant in London’s Mayfair this summer.
Tendril started as a residency at the Sun & 13 Cantons in London’s Soho.
Sachdeva has been crowdfunding for a 50 to 60 cover restaurant in London since last June, during which he raised over £150,000.
He will close the pop-up site next month, which has been running since June 2022, and re-launch the space as Tendril (mostly) Vegan Kitchen & Bar in the summer, following a month-long refurbishment.
The 42-cover restaurant has been designed in partnership with Haigh & Company and Dapple Studio and also offers a 30-cover semi-private dining room. Terracotta, teals and natural timbers have been used throughout.
Typical dishes will include summer squash, white polenta, basil puree and crispy samphire; smoked peas, pickled wild garlic, mint tabbouleh and rye crumbs; and chocolate ganache, sesame butter and pistachio crumb.
Sachdeva said: “It’s no secret we've been searching for a permanent home for Tendril for some time now, so it is with huge excitement that we can now announce we will be re-launching the restaurant this summer in its current location at 5 Princes St, following a month-long refurb.
“Creating our re-launch menu has also been a true labor of love, and we’ve poured all our culinary expertise and passion into crafting dishes that perfectly embody the Tendril ethos of laidback and imaginative (mostly) vegan dining - with some tasty new dishes we can't wait to share and a handful of Tendril signatures that firmly remain.”
Sachdeva grew up in New Delhi, India, and moved to the UK in 2003 to study hospitality and tourism at Oxford Brookes University.
He went on to hold senior sous chef roles at Heston Blumenthal’s three-Michelin-starred Fat Duck in Bray, Berkshire, and at London's Chiltern Firehouse under Nuno Mendes. He was also part of the senior chef opening team at the Dairy in London's Clapham.
