Taj appoints Mehrnavaz Avari as UK area director

Indian Hotels Company (IHCL) has appointed Mehrnavaz Avari its new UK area director and general manager of its Taj 51 Buckingham Gate Suites and Residences and St James Court hotel in London.

Avari was previously deputy general manager of IHCL’s Taj Mahal Palace in Mumbai, having also held leadership positions at the Umaid Bhawan Palace in Jodhpur and Taj Palace in New Delhi.

Starting her career as a management trainee, she graduated with a Masters of Management at Cornell University in New York and Nanyang Technological University in Singapore.

Avari said: “It is my privilege and honour to be a part of the team at Taj London Hotels at a time when the hospitality and tourism sector has begun to recover from the unprecedented crisis. We look forward to taking ahead the legacy of Tajness and welcoming guests at our legendary hotels in the heart of the city.”

She replaces previous area manager Digvijay Singh, who has moved to Mumbai as area director of Maharashtra and Gujarat and general manager of IHCL’s Taj Lands End.
