Travel concessions business SSP has launched a new food and beverage concept called the Camden Bar & Kitchen at London Stansted Airport.
With seating for 350, the 7,500 sq ft space is set across two storeys with a premium full service restaurant and bar on the upper level and a grab and go bar and deli on the floor below.
The new concept, inspired by the London district of Camden and its famous market stalls, serves a a "rise & dine" classic breakfast offer followed by a main menu of traditional dishes such as fish and chips, burgers and healthy salads, alongside Thai and Indian influenced street food.
A number of Camden street food vendors will also operate in rotation, beginning with Baba G's spiced bhangra burgers, while the drinks list will include beers from Camden Town Brewery alongside other premium beers, wines and a selection of cocktails.
The new venue has an industrial feel with bright colours throughout, graffiti art and a mural created by post-graduate art students from St Martin's College depicting London's street food scene. A Glow Zone provides customers with mobile device charging facilities that illuminate when in use.
Simon Smith, chief executive of SSP UK & Ireland said: "The Camden Bar & Kitchen transforms one of the largest and most prominent spaces in the airside departure lounge into a modern eclectic restaurant, reflecting the spirit of contemporary London and its most famous food market."
Ben Green, retail director for London Stansted Airport, added: "This fantastic new concept recreates the buzz and flavours of London's most iconic food market and we are extremely proud to offer millions of passengers the chance to enjoy what we're sure will prove to be an extremely popular destination before taking to the sky from Stansted."
