A 123-bedroom spa hotel has been included in plans to develop a marina on the outskirts of Edinburgh.
Located two and a half miles from the city centre, the £300m marina will be the focal point of the regeneration of Granton Harbour. It is believed it will be the first new marina adjacent to a European capital city for several decades.
The master plan that has been lodged with the City of Edinburgh Council outlines details of the 400 berth marina, together with nearly 1,900 homes, 9,220 sq m retail space, and improved facilities for the Royal Forth and Forth Corinthian yacht clubs, as well as the hotel. It also proposes an extension to the marina of the new Edinburgh tram service and the introduction of a fast ferry service to and from Kirkcaldy, as well as facilities to accommodate cruise ship tenders.
A spokesman for the developers, Granton Central Developments Limited, said: "We hope that Edinburgh Marina will soon be not just a gateway to Edinburgh, but a focal point of an exciting and energetic new community."
Work on the marina is expected to start later this year.
