Museum of London Docklands appoints Bovingdons as new catering partner

The Museum of London Docklands has revealed that Bovingdons will be its new catering partner for the next five years following a competitive tender process.

In a deal understood to be worth £2m-£3m, Bovingdons has taken over from CH&Co and will provide catering to the museum’s café and daytime events, as well as becoming part of the preferred evening catering list at both the Docklands site and the Museum of London.

Sarah McQueen, assistant head of commercial services at the Museum of London, said: “We are thrilled to have Bovingdons on board to support the delivery of catering in the café, as well as providing catering exclusively for daytime events at the Museum of London Docklands. The tender process was incredibly competitive and Bovingdons were chosen not just for their commendable focus on sustainability, but for their experience working with historical venues and their incredibly high standard of service and expert team.”

Frans Kobus, managing director at Bovingdons, added: “We are delighted to have won the contract to provide catering at the Museum of London Docklands. There are not many venues in Canary Wharf that can offer the variety and scope of spaces that the museum can and we’re incredibly excited at the prospect of delivering events and catering here. Our team have demonstrable experience working with historic venues, such as Fulham Palace and Nonsuch Mansion, and it’s fantastic to add such an unusual and diverse location as the Museum of London Docklands to our portfolio.”

South-east-based Bovingdons runs seven cafés/restaurants and delivers more than 400 events a year. Its other catering partner venues include Westminster Abbey, Cutty Sark, the Museum of Childhood and Butchers’ Hall.
