Marcello Ventisei has been appointed general manager of the Grand Central hotel in Glasgow.
The 233-bedroom hotel, which is now operated by IHG hotels as Voco Grand Central Glasgow, first opened in 1883. It was relaunched in 2021 following a multi-million pound refurbishment.
Ventisei was born in Glasgow and has spent over three decades in hospitality, having started his career at the Grand Hotel in Brighton.
In his new role, he will be responsible for positioning the IHG property as a leading wedding and event venue in the city, as well as offering memorable guest experiences.
Ventisei said: “I couldn’t be prouder to take the reins of this magnificent hotel in my home city. I’ve grown up in Glasgow and have so many fond memories of the hotel over the years. It’s truly a special property that is very much loved by the people of Scotland.
“My primary goal is to continue the legacy of Voco Grand Central Hotel as a destination of choice for both locals and travellers alike, seeking a blend of modern luxury and timeless charm.”
He added: “Together, alongside the hotel’s dedicated team, I am committed to creating a warm and inviting atmosphere for our guests while upholding the highest standards of hospitality.”
