Greek boutique hotel brand Ergon House is set to open its first overseas property in London’s Covent Garden next year.
The 20,000 sq ft London hotel will occupy a newly-refurbished heritage listed building and feature 20 bedrooms, a private gym, and a 2,200 sq ft rooftop restaurant with alfresco terrace.
Members of the public will be able to visit the hotel’s signature Agora marketplace, where fishmongers, butchers, bakers and greengrocers showcase farm-to-table produce.
Ergon House operates under the umbrella food brand Ergon, which has been growing its portfolio of artisanal Mediterranean produce since 2008. In 2011, it expanded its retail arm to over 20 stores across Greece, Cyprus and the Middle East.
It opened its flagship store and first market-with-rooms-style hotel, Ergon House, in Athens in 2019, which is listed in the Michelin Guide.
Ergon House was followed by the launch of Ergon Beach House in Nikiti in 2022 and the opening of Ergon Bakehouse, also in Athens, earlier this year.
Thomas Douzis, founder and chief executive of Ergon, said: “Ergon House Covent Garden marks a significant milestone for us. It represents our dedication and commitment to providing a memorable, one-of-a-kind experience for guests, and marks a new era in our journey.
“We chose Covent Garden for our first location in the UK because of its strong reputation in retail and F&B.
"It offers a unique opportunity for us with local and international visitors, and the solid cultural foundation it has cultivated. We look forward to embedding ourselves within the West End.”
Michelle McGrath, executive director at real estate investment trust Shaftesbury Capital, added: “This unique boutique hotel will enhance the Covent Garden experience, delivering a distinctive blend of high-end hospitality experience which aligns with our goal to continually evolve and enhance the neighbourhood.”
