Bar Boulud in London closes after 10 years

It has been confirmed that Bar Boulud will not be reopening at the Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park London in Knightsbridge.

The news was first reported by Adam Hyman, founder of Code Hospitality. According to the 181-bedroom hotel, the restaurant permanently closed operations on 20 October 2020 following the expiry of its 10-year contract. The decision hasn’t yet been finalised on what will take the place of Bar Boulud.

The five red AA-star hotel said the pandemic had an “adverse effect on operations” and added: “Mandarin Oriental Hyde Park, London appreciates the patronage given to the establishment over the past 10 years and would like to thank chef Boulud and the exceptional colleagues who brought the creative concepts to London and made the restaurant a Knightsbridge neighbourhood favourite.”

The restaurant opened on the ground floor of the property in May 2010 as a sister restaurant to chef-restaurateur Daniel Boulud's original restaurant in New York and serving its signature burgers. A modern French bistro and wine bar, it was headed by executive chef Dean Yasharian and opened shortly before Dinner by Heston, the hotel's two-Michelin-starred fine dining restaurant. The late Sunday Times critic AA Gill gave the burgers 10/10 in his review of the restaurant.
