Hilton celebrates 100th birthday at London flagship

The London Hilton on Park Lane is at the centre of celebrations today to mark the centenary of the global hotel company.

Conrad Hilton opened the first hotel back in Cisco Texas in the United States on 31 May 1919.

The five-AA-star, 453-bedroom London Hilton on Park Lane was the first Hilton hotel to open in the UK in 1963.

An exhibition of the Hilton history is being held in the hotel's lobby and will run until Sunday 2 June.

Part of the exhibition looks at the hotel's position in Mayfair, as a hub for the local community and its economic and cultural impact as the UK's first Hilton hotel.

Visitors to the exhibition will include Hilton's president for EMEA, Simon Vincent, and Jon Scott, area vice president, Hilton, who will cut a birthday cake created by the hotel's executive chef Anthony Marshall.
