Woodford site relaunching under new ownership
The former Woodford restaurant in London's South Woodford is being relaunched as the Gallery under new ownership.
M & Co Services, operator of the award-winning Woodford restaurant, went into administration last March owing more than £207,000 to a string of unsecured creditors.
Landlord R and I Properties (Essex) relaunched the site as LDN Grill in July 2017, however the restaurant closed again within a year and the site was acquired by Hassan Yildiz's Hotspot London in August 2018.
The 100-cover site is due to relaunch on 27 November and open six days a week, serving lunch and dinner until late. The two-storey restaurant will have an open kitchen with a chef's table for four, a ground floor cocktail and wine bar and a 16-cover private dining room.
The food will be overseen by head chef Dave Rann, who previously worked as a head chef at contract caterer Rhubarb and the Juniper Tree in Belsize Park. His modern British menu will comprise grilled meats and seafood and a variety of vegan and vegetarian dishes.
Rann said: "After months of planning for the opening, I can't wait to welcome guests to the Gallery, for the chance to sample some of my favourite dishes and the moreish wines and cocktails available from our two bars."
The Gallery will feature dark velvet interiors, a gold sequin wall and paintings, which lend the venue its name, as well as a self-playing grand piano. The first floor will host resident and guest DJs and have its own bar.
