Battlebury Barracks chef takes top prize at Sodexo Salon Culinaire
Sodexo have heralded talent across their foodservice team in a string of events - including a Salon Culinaire competition that garnered scores of entries.
Best in show was awarded to Elaine Morris, a pastry chef at Battlebury Barracks in Wiltshire who entered two sugar flower vases.
Another Defence & Government Services employee, Patricia Gora went on to be heralded as the foodservice company's apprentice chef of the year.
David Mulcahy, Sodexo UK & Ireland's food innovation director, said: "Well done to Elaine Morris, Patricia Gora and all the competitors who took part.
"Our salon culinaire is an annual celebration of food excellence and craft development and demonstrates Sodexo is a great place to build your career as a chef with plenty of training and development opportunities.
"A huge thank you goes to the thought leaders, suppliers, celebrity chefs, industry judges, competitors, visitors and sponsors who made our first ever Sodexo Live the success it was."
The event was one of the many exhibitions of skill on display at the Sodexo Live event at Ascot.
A team made up of Andy Voice from Independents by Sodexo, Gary Periti from Sodexo Education and Luke Townley from Sodexo Corporate Services won the culinary challenge on Tuesday evening for their treacle tart dish.
The competition saw five teams compete by taking on an individual course of a 120-cover dinner. The winners were handed their awards by Sodexo ambassador and former England Rugby captain Matt Dawson.
Sean Haley, Sodexo UK & Ireland chair, said: "What we've seen is Sodexo prepare and serve outstanding food in restaurant conditions. Congratulations to Andy, Gary and Luke on winning the challenge, but also well done to everyone who competed for demonstrating the food heritage and excellence of Sodexo."
