Loungers' partnership with The Prince's Trust sees more young people enter industry

Restaurant group Loungers, working alongside The Prince's Trust charity, has seen its first batch of graduates from its Get into Hospitality initiative pilot run.

Since October 2017, Loungers has been working with the Prince's Trust to provide young people with the skills to take on a career in the hospitality industry. In May 2018, Loungers took on 10 young people for a week-long work experience and celebrated their graduation last week.

This is the first of what Loungers hopes to be many if the pilot programme is taken nationwide.

The Get Into Hospitality series is designed for young people aged from 16 years old up to the age of 30 and gives them the chance to earn a free Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification while gaining hands-on experience at local Loungers sites.

Young people in Bristol are given the chance to earn a free Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification with the programme, while gaining hands-on experience at restaurants such The Lounge, Porto, Banco, Tinto, Impero and Grupo Lounges as well as The Cosy Club on Corn Street in Bristol.

At the end of the programme, participants will are interviewed for positions in a Lounges restaurant.

Daniel Flanagan, recruitment manager at Loungers said: "We're extremely proud to have partnered with The Prince's Trust for this fantastic initiative. It's been amazing to see the development of the young people since we started the programme and be in a position to offer them a career in one of the most exciting industries. We've been given the opportunity to develop the next generation of hospitality superstars and would love to continue to work with many more young people looking to pursue this career path."

Founded in Bristol, Loungers now has 124 sites including 21 Cosy Clubs across the UK.
