Rosa's Thai Cafe and Lunyalita set course for Liverpool's Albert Dock
Liverpool's Albert Dock will become home to Rosa's Thai Cafe and Lunyalita this summer as part of the repositioning of the site on the UNESCO World Heritage waterfront.
The move comes as part of a five-deal announcement from Aberdeen Standard Investments, which has stated its aim as creating a diverse mix of independent and national restaurant, leisure and retail offerings.
Rosa's Thai Cafe has 11 venues in Central London, including Spitalfields, Soho, and Chelsea. Albert Dock will be its first venture outside the capital. The 2,436 sq ft restaurant will be spread over two floors of the Grade I-listed dock building, including an open theatre kitchen. The restaurant will retain the building's original features.
Lunyalita will offer "an eclectic mix" of coffee, wine, deli and tapas at mezzanine level with unique views across the waterfront from its 2,767 sq ft unit, which will accommodate 85 covers inside and 30 outside. It follows the success of the independent operator's restaurants in Liverpool and Manchester and online operation, which claims to be the UK's largest online Spanish deli.
Aberdeen Standard Investments has also agreed leases with leisure attraction Escape Hunt, "an interactive and intuitive real-life escape game," similar to the 90s' TV show The Crystal Maze and office tenants.
Chris Wright, portfolio manager at Aberdeen Standard Investments, said: "Albert Dock is a world-class tourist attraction bringing a significant amount of footfall, however, we are striving to create a year-round destination within the city that locals visit regularly and feel compelled to return to. We are currently working hard for 2018 to be the first realisation of our plans to reinvent the offer at Albert Dock, and we are proud to welcome all of these operators to kick-start this and breathe new life into the scheme."
Joint agents for Albert Dock are Mason Owen and Bruce Gillingham Pollard.
