Chefs cooks up £350,000 for Action Against Hunger

A total of £350,000 was raised for the charity Action Against Hunger at a dinner cooked by a tour de force of chefs at 1 Lombard Street in the City of London.

The event was the annual Fine Wine Auction and Dinner, which during its 11-year history has raised nearly £2.5m for the fight against child hunger across the world. This year will see all funds raised on the night doubled by the UK government as part of the charity's Healthy Mums Healthy Kids appeal, which supports mums and mums-to-be to give their children the best start in life.

The chefs who prepared the dinner for 160 guests included, pictured from left to right, Ollie Dabbous, Paul Ainsworth, Michel Roux Jr, Ken Hom and Juri Ravagli, head chef of 1 Lombard Street, while actor Hugh Bonneville hosted the event.

Auction prizes included a dinner party prepared by Angela Hartnett and Neil Borthwick, paired with truffles and wine from Fortnum and Mason.

Robin Hutson, chairman and chief executive of Lime Wood Group and Home Grown Hotels, and chairman of the event, said the evening had once again raised "vital funds" for Action Against Hunger's work in the fight against child hunger.

"A huge thank you to all of our amazing chefs for cooking up a fantastic dinner and to all of our guests who showed such generous support. Hugh Bonneville hosted superbly and our auctioneer Tom Best did his best to extract every last penny from the 160 guests present. The night will make a huge difference in our fight against child hunger."
