Sodexo lands £26m NHS catering contract

Sodexo has won a £26m deal to provide the catering services to a network of hospitals in South Yorkshire and North Nottinghamshire.

The 10-year contract with Doncaster and Bassetlaw Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust has the option to extend for another five years.

Sodexo will provide "patient feeding services" as well as running a staff and visitor restaurant, and associated retail catering outlet services.

The Trust serves a population of more than 420,000 across South Yorkshire, North Nottinghamshire and the surrounding areas. Hosting three main hospital sites including Doncaster Royal Infirmary, Bassetlaw Hospital in Worksop, and Montagu Hospital in Mexborough, and a number of additional services, the Trust is one of only five Teaching Hospitals in Yorkshire.

Unlike much of the rest of the NHS, there wasn't a waiting list for the deal, with only one tender received.
