Michelin-starred chefs collaborate for charity dinner series

Aaron Potter, senior sous chef at Trinity, London and Tony Parkin, head chef of the West House, Biddenden have come together to launch a series of guest chef events to raise money for homeless charity Centrepoint.

The chefs have planned a year's worth of charity dinners called ‘Home' which will invite some of the top chefs in the UK to cook together Upstairs at Trinity.

The first event will kick off on 12 November and will see Potter and Parkin joined by Adam Reid from Adam Reid at the French, Manchester; John Duffin from John's House, Leicestershire; Ben Marks from London's Perilla; and Andrew Wandless of Texture, London.

The event, where each of the chefs will create one dish each to showcase their style of cooking, will cost £70 per person.

On 27 November, Rob Potter from the Manor House, Castle Combe; Mark Birchall of Moor Hall, Lancashire; Jon Parry of the Mash Inn, Buckinghamshire; Kirk Haworth from Plates, London; and Douglas Balish from the Tudor Room, Surrey, have been confirmed.

The chefs will then have a break in December and resume in January welcoming Gareth Ward, Ynyshir Hall, Powys; Alex Bond Alchemilla, Nottingham; and Niall Keating of Whatley Manor, Wiltshire, to the kitchen.

Parkin told The Caterer: "Aaron and I are extremely excited as this is a great opportunity for people to try food from a variety of great chefs from across the country while giving to a great cause!"

The series is the brainchild of Potter who was inspired to make a change after seeing a homeless person in need on the street. Centrepoint benefits homeless people by providing food, shelter, support and guidance to help people get back on their feet.

Potter said: "This has all stemmed from me witnessing a really unfortunate fellow outside of the tube station in the pouring rain, no shoes, no socks, soaking wet and in a bit of a state. Directly across the road stood about 30 people waiting for the bus, doing absolutely nothing to help this guy. I bought him some food and gave him some spare socks I had but knew that wasn't going to change his life for any more than five minutes. He mentioned Centrepoint to me and after researching them online I want to do my part to help."
