Conor O'Leary appointed general manager of Gleneagles

The five red-AA-star, 232-bedroom Gleneagles hotel has announced the promotion of Conor O'Leary from hotel manager to general manager.

O'Leary replaces Paul Heery, who left the hotel in Aucheterarder, Perthshire, in July, to move to Adare Manor in Limerick, Ireland, as general manager. He will now oversee the continued transformation of the iconic property that has been ongoing since Ennismore became its owner in 2015.

O'Leary arrived at Gleneagles in November 2016 to oversee all food and beverage operations across the hotel in his role as hotel manager, having previously worked as director of food and beverage at the Grand Hyatt in Dubai, where he was responsible for 14 restaurants and bars.

Andreas Porias, previously director of rooms at Gleneagles since 2013, has replaced O'Leary as hotel manager.

O'Leary said he is looking forward to further enhancing the hotel and help nurture "the legacy of this iconic brand" for future generations.

"The hotel refuses to rest on its laurels, and its continual pursuit of excellence and improvement across every element of the guest journey - from our exceptional food and beverage offering to our glorious playground of sport, country pursuits and leisure - inspires me every single day," he explained.

Bernard Murphy, managing director of Gleneagles, added that O'Leary had demonstrated strong leadership qualities and an impressive skillset during his time as hotel manager.

"His experience in some of London's most prestigious properties, as well as his success overseas, has given him an international approach to operations, which is critical to this business and is helping us develop our offering.

"The last 18 months represent one of the most exciting periods in the hotel's history, with significant investment from Ennismore ensuring our successful launch of three new bars, a new restaurant, a new café, a new residents' lounge, and the refurbishment of around 80 bedrooms and suites.

"I look forward to working with Conor - as our investment programme continues at pace - to build on that success, forge new opportunities, and strengthen our position on the global stage."
