Edinburgh most expensive for hotel stays during August
Edinburgh is the most expensive summer destination in the UK and Ireland for travellers booking rooms, according to a survey compiled by online travel agent cheaprooms.co.uk.
The company compared the cheapest double room hotel in 40 popular destinations in the UK for August this year. Only centrally located hotels and guest houses rated at least three stars and with positive average guest reviews were considered.
On average, visitors to the Scottish capital have to pay £134 per night, a rate probably driven by the running of the Edinburgh International Festival from 7 to 31 August.
Bath ranked second on the list, with an average price of £106 per night, followed St Peter Port, capital of Guernsey, at £104. Oxford ranked in fourth place (£98), followed by London at £97.
At the other end of the scale, Blackpool was listed as the least expensive destination with an average room rate of £36 per night.
