SSP signs £135m Stansted Airport deal

SSP has signed a £135m contract to operate five new units at London Stansted Airport, including a high-end bakery concept in partnership with celebrity chef James Martin.

The announcement comes as Manchester Airports Group, which owns Stansted, revealed details of a £260m investment programme, including an £80m terminal transformation project.

The bakery concept, the James Martin Kitchen, will launch at the airport alongside a second new food and beverage offer called Cabin, which aims to bring "a little luxury" to Stansted by serving up a contemporary British menu and fine wines. New Starbucks, M&S Simply Food and Burger King outlets will also be introduced.

Commenting on the win, Kate Swann, SSP chief executive, said: "The brand line-up we're introducing includes investment in two exciting airport firsts in the form of the James Martin Kitchen and Cabin, as well as a new generation of some exceptional international favourites."

Beth Brewster, retail director of Manchester Airports Group, said: "SSP's brand mix will enable us to span a broad range of needs from travellers looking for simple fast-food options to those who want to treat themselves with a gourmet sandwich from James Martin or a glass of fine wine from Cabin.

"Manchester Airports Group has worked with SSP for many years, and we're delighted to be building on our strong partnership with this new venture at Stansted."
